Our Story
The restaurant offers a relaxed counter-service experience, with a live-fire grill at the heart of our open kitchen. GReKo’s bright, cheerful design puts the kitchen and live-fire grill front and center, complemented by large pull-up windows and colorful graffiti walls - inside and out! - that we designed with our good friend, the artist Eric “Mobe” Base referencing Greek Mythology (Poseidon, Athena, “ΑΘΕ” owl) and the amazing street art synonymous with many cities throughout Greece. Our menu and design are inspired by the traditional street-side eateries of our childhood - which are always our first stop every time we touch down back home.
A Family Tradition
GReKo is very much a family affair, following 40+ years of hospitality experience owning and operating restaurants across Middle Tennessee. Soon after our fathers Angelo Darsinos and Spiro Darsinos emigrated to the US from Nemea, they found their way to Nashville and opened Gondola Pizza, the first of many restaurants in the 1970s. GReKo is the collective vision of the next generation of our family, and we’ve long dreamed of sharing the authentic flavors of Greece here in Nashville, the Athens of the South.
